The AGS Intractability Appraiser (AGS-IA™)

Put yourself in the shoes of your adversary, bent on violating your data integrity. It's a challenge. And if you are well protected, it is a difficult challenge. Should he use social engineering, or a password buster program? Is there a backdoor to your network, or should he cause you to install a program with a Trojan Horse? He weighs his chances to break in, using each of these (and more) possibilities. He chooses one direction, and proceeds. He then faces a new challenge, which also can be handled through different routes. Whatever route he chooses, he ends up facing a new challenge, and on it goes.

What do we do? We developed an intrusion map (I-Map) that spells out the successive challenges encountered by your adversary. You see, we are there before him! And we appraise the effort needed for each step on the map. How? We, of course, don't know your adversary, or how smart he is, but we have record of past intrusions, which we also mapped on the I-Map, and that gives us an idea, an estimate. What is more important than the actual absolute time (effort) figures, is their relative value. We can figure out where is his biggest challenge, and where it's too easy. We can then think of means to increase the intractability of the easier challenges along the path, and thereby make the intruder's job more difficult (and newly appraise how much more difficult!)

We do additional things, like, develop means to measure the intrusion progress against you before your system is compromised. We spot tell-tale signs, and we install traps that expose the intruder as he digs his way to your private parts.

The Intrusion Map (I-Map) is developed by applying an iterative replacement procedure which was specifically developed for handling intractable tasks.
